DownAlert.Net

We are testing our website, but if you found us because you saw our user agent on your site, you’re in the right spot.

What is the DownAlert monitor?

The “DownAlert.Net Monitor” is an automated robot that visits pages to examine and analyse the site headers and content, to monitor if a site is up or down, and/or if a page has possible issues.

The DownAlert.Net Monitor robot is identified by having a user-agent of the following form(s):

user-agent: DownAlert.net Monitor

We care about your site’s performance and will never hurt it!

The Downalert Monitor is very site-friendly. We made it as “gentle” as possible when monitoring sites: it makes only 1 request per minute per test. To check website statuses, we first do a HEAD. After that, a GET is only used if the test requires it.

If any problems arise due to peculiarities of your particular site or a test that should not be testing your site, please report it to our support team via support [@/at] downalert.net. We will quickly address your concerns so the robot will never affect your site’s performance.

Why is it monitoring my site?

The Downalert Monitor assists website owners or administrators in getting information about downtime, config issues, and unexpected behaviour for a specific site. This is to avoid technical and legal issues and improve the online experience. To do this, it is necessary to examine the page to collect the information necessary for the required test. For example, if a test only checks the site Headers, it will likely only do a HEAD. If the test tests if the wp-admin page is available, it will most likely do a GET.
